Custom: Logging Truck with Trailer
by bricksphere
This is my first modified set and I would like to show you my logging truck with trailer.
After a first customisation on the minifigures, I wanted to try to personalise also a LEGO set. I found the LEGO set 60059 logging truck very interesting, so I decided to try some customisation on it. The main idea is to add a tug trailer with a similar layout as the truck itself.
The starting point is the 60059 set from 2014 with 219 parts including two minifigures, which is available on Bricklink.
The Trailer
The trailer is the main modification, since it comes from a second set and some extra parts. To create the tug trailer, I remove the entire driving cabin and I add the tug and the steering wheels.
The loading area of the trailer has the same dimension of the truck one, with 4 supporting pillars and the blocking chain on top.
The Truck
As far sa the truck is concerned, it also needs some small but crucial modification. The truck needs to include the trailer hook to connect the trailer.
The hook is under the loading crane, in a central position with respect to the rear lights. So, compared to the original set, the mast of the crane is one plate layer higher. I think, that this solution keeps the proportion of the truck and the trailer. Moreover, the loading crane can easily reach both the truck loading area and the trailer loading area.
Considerations
I made this small modification on the logging truck with trailer because I wanted to customise the set. Of course there could be further ways to improve, but I think it keeps the playability as the original set, but adding one extra detail on it.
I hope you like this customisation as I liked doing it. Thank you for reading and if you will have any comment please leave here below.
